Not sure what time it was down for you.
But during the daily backup around 9 GTM + 1 it's possible that the forum is down for a few minutes.

Simplemachines.org is down again.
There are currently problems with the server (basically the server has outgrown the traffic it gets and can't handle everything anymore).
But they are working on an upgrade.
I'll keep you updated Smile

They have.
But they only use it for longer downtimes.
No use to redirect everybody to the other site when it's only for a couply minutes or an hour or something like that.
