I'm getting a myriad of errors on my smf and I can't figure out why - one or more of the 51 modifications  Blush  I have installed over the past must be causing issues.

I've been thinking of doing a fresh installing on a test site (with only a few of those mods) and then just overwriting the existing files - without touching the database.

Has anyone every tried this?

Would it be better to do a fresh install and import my members and posts from the existing installation?
If so...how might I do that?
I've been searching and searching over at smf but can't find instructions on how to do that....

You've got 51 mods installed and you don't know why you get errors? Tongue
51 mods is waaaaay to much, and that's just begging for problems.
It's probably not a bad idea to start from fresh again.
Take a look at this: Restoring a Database

Haha! I know - it's insane.  Strangely, I rarely get errors and most of them I found out how to fix.  The thing is, I did manage to get rid of that one error that caused so much concern - other than one other error that I haven't taken the time to look at  - every thing's just fine... which is odd when I have that many mods.

Honestly - at least half of them are things the site doesn't need - the problem is I'm a bit scared to try to uninstall some of them.  I just have this feeling that the site might implode if I do. laugh

Anyway - thanks for the link - it's just what I needed to point me in the right direction.

Guess what Harro?  Turns out I only have like 26 mods.  All the rest were smf and other update packages.  That's not as bad as I thought.. .I think... Big grin
