Where do you get the themes for your forum?
Do you always go to the official support site or to other sites aswell?

I use the default theme, changed the colours.
It looks different from the default one.

When choosing the theme for my forum I looked far and wide and the best one for me was found at the official support site. I find that a well supported script, no matter what type, generally has the best themes available at the main site. This is because anyone who uses the scrip will visit that site. If you are planning to distribute a theme I would keep this in mind too.

the official site has indeed the most theme most of the time.
But when you are using a free forum (phpBB, SMF, MyBB,...) you probably won't find any unique and paid themes there.

I have been making my own themes for a month or so now. one is available on the support site, called ultimate. I am about to upload an update, called ultimate2 and another theme called seemer.  I also have an update to the portal theme called ultiportal but that one was not approved yet; I am hopeful but disapointed that it is not approved.

along with the seemer theme I plan to include a seemer_template theme which is a no-graphics template to help people customize their own themes through the styles.css.  I am using this template now to make another new theme to be called earthmom (with earthly colors)

but I initially found most of the themes I like on the support site, and have installed some on my site which you can switch to with the theme changer.  I modified them all to work with ultiportal.

I find that most themes can be found on the main site, but some theme authors ONLY release their themes on their own sites. And you might be missing out on some good themes, so take the time to browse around the forum and find such theme makers.

Some even take custom requests, BUT you have to find their website to give such a service. So don't think that the main site has every theme. Smile

True, but often they do have the biggest collection.
But more professional and unique themes are most of the time on other sites.

I found mine on the main site as well. I am using the girlyman theme which is really cute and feminine which is what I had been looking for.  I would love to have a custom theme, but lack the skills and know how.

You could always ask someone to make you a custom theme. Sometimes they do them I noticed and sometimes they want to charge for them.

If you go to Tiny portal and I think it is crip's section you can find a walk through on how to make custom themes by converting the default theme.

LOL I have been to TP and looked at that. I just don't like to play around with that stuff especially when I don't know what I am doing.
