Ok, here are my thoughts.

1. The header lettering is hard to read.
2. The brown theme looks nice except that I think it should be blue since you're using cookie monster as your mascot.
3. The random image seems like it's a distraction when somebody would just want to browse the forum.

I agree with the header, but to fix it you just have to add a stroke to text there. Maybe a dark brown or white, or if those colors don't look good, then black.

As for the overall brown, blue could work, but the brown is fine, I like those cookie icons

Did the brown because cookies are brown
There are already to many blue forums (including this one ).
Agree with the text in the banner though.
But for some reason I lost the psd file and never bothered to create a new banner.
