...back up your forum?

Daily? (at the same time each night?)

Bi-weekly?

Weekly?

Monthly?

And how is your choice (or the regularity thereof) related to the size of your forum?

Discuss.

I do it everytime I think about it.
Was just gonna do it before I read this topic wink
I do it maybe 2-3 times a month.
Always do a full backup of all the files and the database.
Size doesn't really matters for me.

^^ Smile

I do mine almost nightly.

I gave my secondary admin access to this specific area as well.. to update regularly in my absence.

I think the bigger the forum gets, the more regularly it should be updated.

Case in point.. I was perusing one of the forums i moderate elsewhere and then i got a network error.

When the site was back up, a couple days worth of posts had disappeared.

I'm guessing that the server was overloaded, the site crashed and they had to load the  most recent back-up.

I think the bigger the forum gets, the more regularly it should be updated.
Ofcourse, it all depends on the size of the forum.
If you get a couple hundred new posts everyday it's not very smart to backup only twice a month.
Should be at least every night then.

^^Save a copy to your hard-drive; save a copy to an external drive...like a memory stick; or email a copy to yourself and your admin(s)

Most hosting companies do that.
But it's easy if you do it yourself as well.
No need to contact them, wait for an answer,... if anything goes wrong.

I do it once a week. The reason why is because I remember having trouble once, and I had to make a quick recover.

^^I'm a pessimist.

My member base has been growing..as have my posts and topics per day.

I've seen too many times a forum crashes and 2-3 days worth of posts may be lost.
