I am surprised that not a lot of you guys do backups.
I once had my forum hacked 3 times in like 3months. It wasn't SMF's forum, it was the server's kernel. After that, I did backups nearly everyday.

Yikes, I haven't made a single backup copy of my database as yet. I plan to make one tonight as long as I can figure out exactly how to do it. From then on if it is fairly easy, probably once every day or every other day as time permits.

There isn't really a need to do it daily unless you have a really big and active forum. Unless you get a lot of posts daily then you would pretty much have to or your going to need to do some explaining to your members

i back up my forum once every 10 day's I do a full backup of all the files and the database
