When you submit your article to some article directories, make sure that you have a link back to your site within the article or at least in the author description. That way, if someone reads the article they will be able to click the link to your site. This will also give search engines another way to find your site because search engine crawlers view all these articles and follow the links from them. In addition, this will increase the amount of backlinks you have to your site, which may help it rank higher in search engine results pages. So, it can be very beneficial, just remember to include a link to your site in the article.

You can submit to sites like Ezine articles. But click through rate of articles are generally low. So if you need huge traffic you need to submit lot of articles. 1 or 2 article will not bring good traffic.

Yes, Like SEOGUY says, not all article sites drive traffic. Article sites like Ezine, GoArticles, Buzzle will drive decent amount of traffic.

Articles will not bring amazing traffic. Only few top  rated articles will drive traffic. I recommend Ezinearticle, buzzle and goarticles.
