What do you think of the idea of trading pages rather than links. I came up with the idea, as described here, as a way of overcoming the problem of non-relevant link trading.

What do you think of it?

I think it's a great idea.
Takes a bit more work then a regular link exchange, but I think it could be worth it.
Also never seen such an exchange on other places, so it's a very original idea!

I think I might go through the trouble to code a management system for it then!

This can be good for gaining PRs and SERPs as well.
PR from the webwobot PR4 page.
And SERPs from the anchor text on your own page at webwobot site.

But one question, is there a link from anyway to the your own page at webwobot site? If bots cannot find the page, it is useless for SERPs.

I'm actually working on a system right now.

One of the options available will be this:

As you can see, each WebWobot PageTrade will get a link from the new PageTrade directory.

Also, instead of having sponsored ads in search results on WebWobot.com (currently Google Adsense ads on right hand side), I'm thinking of rather having relevant PageTrade ads, which will give further exposure to the ads.
I'm working out a ranking system for this, based on a points system where points are gained for things like linking to us, putting up our search bar on your site, etc - kinda like "You scratch my back, I scratch yours".

What do you think of this idea?

Great idea!
Will also be good to advertise Webwobot a bit more!

Absolutely! Of course, as we grow in PR our links to you will mean all the more!

What's the Pagetrade directory's PR?
And will the link to this directory be on the main webwobot site?

The WebWobot PageTrade directory doesn't exist yet! Still going to code it & yes, it will actually exist on the main WebWobot site (as you can see from the diagram), so its PR should grow rapidly from the following Google update after its inception.

Hmm....I am interested.
But how many links in the PageTrade directory will there be?

As many as there are members who want their PageTrades listed there. Of course, it would be broken down into categories and subcategories.

Should a subcategory grow too large, then we go to page 2, 3...
I personally don't like too many outgoing links from any one page, and there should be ample text in the descriptions. I hate pages just crammed full of links!

Aren't you afraid that it will become like a directory in the end?
You know, like yellow pages.

I am actually wondering if the directory part is such a great idea... with so many directories around these days. But how else would I really be able to offer all participants an SE-visible link?

Got any suggestions as to a better way of doing it? Not actually so keen on the directory part of it myself.

Ya, but once you start categorizing links, it becomes sort of like a directory.

That's the thing. Not sure if it would do any harm, if say we had 10 links per page, with nice meaty text descriptions?
